As we head into the 2022 elections, social media continues to be weaponized by those who spread fake news and disinformation. Every storyteller has a role to play in fighting disinformation and pushing for truth. If you have a platform, you have a responsibility. Along with VERA Files and our artist collaborators, we pledge: #KailanganTotoo.

#KailanganTotoo, kaya kailangan mag-verify bago i-share.
#KailanganTotoo, kaya maging mapanuri sa pagpasok sa mga endorsements at partnerships.
#KailanganTotoo, kaya dapat magpakatotoo sa mga realidad sa ating lipunan.

Artwork by Hulyen
Most of my comics are based on my own experiences and events that actually happened to me. Even if the comic is already fictional because I tweaked the story and added a lot of things to make it more interesting, it is still coming from a place of truth. I think this is also the reason why people can relate to my comics.

As an artist with quite some online following, I am aware how things posted online can go viral so I try to be responsible for whatever I post. When I release a comic strip, I make sure that I don't post anything that is fake or can be misleading. I believe in what's in my comic strip and I can stand by what my artwork says.
